Lap Sponsorships For the Southern Tier 72

  Lap sponsorships are a minimum of $20 per lap. Please support the businesses that have generously sponsored laps for this event.  Lap sponsorships will be paid to a randomly chosen driver running in the top five in the feature unless otherwise noted. Dale and Sue Smith have once again posted the Halfway Leader Award in the amount of $300.

The National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend.

The National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend will take place for the final time on Friday and Saturday, October 28th and 29th. We will have much more information coming out in the immediate days to come.

Racing Divisions:


Friday, October 28th - The Great Crate Race for Sportsman (30), Street Stock Fall Series Finale, Four Cylinder Open Rear Wheel vs. Front Wheel $300 to win each category, 600 Modifieds, Modified Dashes (top two will go to into re-draw for Saturday 72 lapper). Modified practice.


Saturday, October 29th - Modified Southern Tier 72, Crate Sportsman Fall Series Finale, Factory Stock Fall Series Finale, FWD Four Cylinder Fall Finales for Expert and Novice, Futures and 600 Modified Fall Series Finales. 


We will honor Hall of Fame driver Chuck Akulis on Saturday prior to the Modified finale.  Akulis, is the all-time winningest Modified driver at Five Mile Point Speedway.

Modifieds • 72 laps (cautions county between laps 15 and 55 (no more than 3 laps will be counted per caution - drivers cannot lose a lap in the pits under those laps (only under green flag conditions).

• $7,200 to win - $1,000 for tenth - min. $400 to start…

• Draw for heat-race starting spots – heats will have 8 or less cars so teams can race to the front…

• Redraw of top heat finishers for the feature (will be posted on race day) - Heats & Consolations - tba

• Gasoline or methanol permitted

• Sail Panels - Two sail panels permitted - 68 inches maximum height from the ground. Must be even from side to side.

- Heat Race and Consolations Tires: American Racer RR 48 min. LR 44 min. 33 or harder on the front. Hoosiers db300 or harder.

- Feature Tires - Any Modified compound but must match Modified common tread pattern. 


• Weight 2,400 lbs. minimum all cars.

Bonus lap money being sought. randomly paid to driver running in the top five spots.

Entry Fee:  There is a $25 Modified car entry fee (prior to October 26th) $35 after that date...

Great Crate Race Crate Sportsman Race Friday, October 28th -  

• 30 green-flag laps (cautions do not count)

-$2,000 to win…$125 to start…Bump up in Purse

NOW - $2,555 to win - $150 to start!

• All rules will follow FMP track rules – 

Any Modified Tire Compound and Tread that is being used in the northeast currently. 

-Minimum weight 2,400 lbs. Max. 628 gear rule in effect.

• Draw for heat-race starting spots

• Redraw of top heat finishers for the feature (will be posted on race day)

Saturday, Fall Series Finale for Crate Sportsman - 25 laps - $1,000 to win - exact rules and procedures that have been run for the prior four Fall Series events.  Championship points awarded.

American Racer Tires 33 or harder on front. LR 44/RR48 or harder. Hoosier d300 or harder.


FWD Four Cylinder Fall Series Finale – 20 Laps – NO ENTRY FEE $400 TO WIN on Saturday. Novice Fall Series Finale also on Saturday.

Per weekly track rules…

Four Cylinder Open on Friday - 20 laps RWD vs. FWD - $300 to top RWD on racing tires/RWD on dot tires/FWD on dot tires EACH...


600 Modified Weekend Sweep- 20 laps

If a driver wins both days there will be a $300 bonus!


Friday and Saturday rules and procedures are the same, Saturday will count toward the Fall Series points.
